Darren Almond

This is one of my own photographers that I chosen to talk about, one of my best favourites. His name is Darren Almond, he is a British photographer based in London, there was a great opportunity for me to see some of his work in the White Cube earlier this year. The exhibition was very fascinating and it was definitely one of the best exhibitions I have been to. That was also the first time I heard of Almond . The Spaces of Leisure task requires me to take images of my own environment and be able to relate them to myself in any way. Almond’s photographs are the kind of photographs that I would like to achieve, dream like, fairytale kind. The images he produces are crisp where needed but the blur motion added to the whole image makes a  big difference into the whole idea of it. Water blur motion is the space that really stands out while looking at his photographs. The fact that Almond is not just a photographer but an artist who also makes a series of art work which then he links to his photographs in many exhibitions. The exhibition that I have seen included sculptures, photographs and other things which together worked amazingly.

The two images shown below are the series that I wanted to focus on while researching Almond’s work. He has plenty other art work that isn’t only about blur motion and landscapes but these images link to my theme the most and they are the ones I wanted to use. There is no possible way of me finding this kind of view close to me and also it would be quite hard to relate myself into them in any way, that is why I am going to stick with the countryside. As I am not able to really recreate them I would like to focus my images on very calm colours that you can see in Almond’s photography. That will be my next move with my idea.
