Sophie Gerrard is based in London and Edinburg, but the project that I am going to talk about in this research was made in India. The project is called E-Wasteland and shows our electronical waste being stored in India. Gerrard’s photography is very straight forward but also a little bit abstract but at the same time a documentary. If my task was to think of a way to present these images in relation to the audience I would say something like National Geographic magazine or something like that, it would definitely get to a lot more people and would be responded to in a very different way. The images are more about the disgusting way of treating earth and our environment and not the photos being only photography or art. I wanted to research this artist before going into my own photoshoot because I found it very relevant to my original idea after Hugo and Polidori’s research. Now I have a little different thinking about the electronical waste and instead of only just taking images of the waste that I will find I will try to make my composition very dramatic in term of the viewers, I am going to think more about relating the waste to where it is and to our environment and how it affects us.
